In 1984, the Georgetown Hoyas handled business in the Big East, losing only three games in the regular season by four points or less. Led by coach John Thompson and buoyed by consistent, strong shooting and defense by standout junior Patrick Ewing, Georgetown powered through the 1984 NCAA tournament, defeating Houston for their first national championship.
