Since the Bearcat is named for football player Teddy Baehr and not necessarily after the real animal, you’ll find several renditions of the bearcat looking like both bears or cats instead. This particular Bearcat, with his back arched like a cat ready to fight, dates back as far as 1947 and was used consistently until the early 1960’s. Brought to you in partnership with College Vault.
