In the mid-1970s, Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance ran IU-themed commercials featuring a janitor with a larger-than-life voice singing the Indiana fight song as she cleaned Assembly Hall. Opera singer Martha Webster, also known as "Martha the Mop Lady," transcended being a commercial mascot, becoming ingrained in the fabric of IU basketball tradition. So beloved was Martha that, nearly 20 years after the commercial stopped airing, IU Athletics began playing the Martha spot in-arena before games in 2010-- a tradition that, as Hoosiers know, still continues today.
