Dale Earnhardt began his illustrious NASCAR career in a yellow and blue car sponsored by Wrangler. In 1988, his No. 3 Chevrolet would receive a new primary sponsor, GM Goodwrench, which afforded him the opportunity to don a new paint scheme. Despite Goodwrench’s initial hesitance, Earnhardt and RCR opted for a mostly black paint scheme with white, red, and silver accents. The look would soon become Earnhardt’s signature, as NASCAR’s “Man in Black.”
