Back in Wichita State’s days as Fairmount College, students had a quintessentially Kansas side hustle to earn money: wheat harvesting, also known as shocking. Given the school’s football field made of wheat stubs and the Pep Club’s nickname, the “Wheaties,” it only made sense that football team manager RJ Kirk began calling the athletic teams the Wheatshockers. By the late 1920s, journalists picked up on the name, shortening it to “Shockers,” and the school officially followed suit to formalize the unique nickname.
Products are mocked up on a size S. Graphics may appear smaller on larger sizes.
Our heavyweight tees have a wide chest and body, to offer a vintage fit. If you prefer an athletic fit, consider sizing down or buying this design on one of our classic, standard tees.
