The 1958 LSU football team, led by coach Paul Dietzel and future Heisman trophy winner Billy Cannon, went undefeated and brought home the school’s first national championship. Coach Dietzel revolutionized the college game by implementing a three-platoon system that kept his players fresh. Their legacy extends beyond their title, since they were the first LSU team to wear white home jerseys, making the Death Valley experience even more unique.
